Experience Magic Under the Northern Lights in Finland

The northern lights are one of nature's most beautiful phenomena. For those who have never seen it, the aurora borealis is a stunning display of vibrant colors that light up the night sky. And if you're looking for an unforgettable experience, there's no better place to see them than in Finland.

Have you ever witnessed something so otherworldly that it leaves you breathless? That's exactly what happened to me when I saw the northern lights dancing through the sky in Finland. It was a moment that I will never forget, a moment that left me awestruck. As someone who is obsessed with space, I can't begin to describe how amazing it was to witness the Northern Lights in Finland.

Our tour guide picked us up from our resort for our snowmobile aurora hunting tour, we began asking questions about the northern lights and whether or not we would be lucky enough to see them. The guide explained that the Kp-index is used to describe the disturbance of the Earth’s magnetic field caused by the solar wind. The faster the solar wind blows, the greater the turbulence. The index ranges from 0, for low activity, to 9, which means that an intense geomagnetic storm is under way.

On this day, the Kp index was up to an 8 with high solar winds, which meant that we had a good chance of seeing the aurora borealis.

And then, suddenly, there they were - the vibrant green, pink, and purple hues of the northern lights - within minutes of pulling up to "home base." It was as if they were putting on a show just for us, and I couldn't help but feel humbled by their beauty.

After hours of chasing the lights on our snowmobiles, we finally returned to our hotel. But the experience didn't end there. The Northern Lights continued to light up the night sky all night long. It was so peaceful and calming to watch them, and I eventually fell asleep while still witnessing their beauty.

But the best part of it all was that we were incredibly lucky to witness the Northern Lights for two nights in a row. This is a rare and special occurrence, and I feel so grateful to have been able to experience it.

Witnessing the Northern Lights in Finland was a memory that I will always cherish. It's a reminder of the beauty and wonder of the universe, and I feel so lucky to have been able to witness it firsthand.
